Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs)

Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs) are qualified instructors who are certified by Microsoft to deliver Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) instructor-led courses to Information Technology (IT) professionals and developers.

Requirements:
The requirements for this certification are numerous but break down to 4 steps:

  1. Earn an accepted Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Microsoft Business Solutions/Microsoft Dynamics credential
  2. Prove your instructional presentation skills
  3. Obtain a Metrics that Matter (MTM) ID
  4. Apply to become an MCT and pay the annual fee

Check with Microsoft Learning and click on the Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) Program Guide to get the details. You must have the credentials and skills to back up your MCT. Microsoft allows only MCT's to use their official curriculum so they keep the standards high.

Costs:
The certification fee for an MCT is $400 in the United States. Check Microsoft's list for fees in additional countries.

Recertification:
Although there is not a recertification, you must continually earn positive MTM scores and keep your MCP certifications current. In addition, your requirements and standing will be reviewed quarterly by Microsoft.

    Credit Toward Certification

Exam MB7-515: NAV 5.0 Financials: counts as credit toward the following certification(s):

    Q. How do I register to take an exam?
    A.
Certification exams to become a Microsoft Certified Business Management Solutions Specialist or Microsoft Certified Business Management Solutions Professional are available through Prometric.
Register to take a certification exam (Prometric.com)
    Q. Is there an exam retake policy for Microsoft Dynamics certification exams?
    A.
Yes. If you do not pass an exam the first time you take it, you can retake it at any time. If you do not achieve a passing score on the second attempt, you must wait at least 14 days to retake the exam a third time. A 14-day waiting period is required for all subsequent exam retakes. After you pass an exam, you cannot take it again.
    Q. How long will my certification be valid?
    A.
All new-generation certifications, including Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), and Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD), retire when Microsoft discontinues mainstream support for the related technology. After a credential retires, it still appears on your transcript but is listed as "Retired." In most cases, an upgrade path is available for individuals holding that credential to demonstrate their skills on the newest version of the technology, without completing all exams associated with the new credential. However, this policy does not apply to legacy credentials, including Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD). The legacy credentials do not retire; they continue to hold their value in the marketplace as long as there is a need for IT professionals with these skills.
